Health systems collect a lot of data on patients, but they collect it in different ways, keep it in different places — and sometimes it’s just missing. A new AI product just approved by the FDA tries to make a virtue of that missing data, exploiting the gaps as a form of information itself.

eCART is the first machine learning-enabled software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) supported by BARDA to receive clearance. This product is part of BARDA’s effort to develop technologies that are threat-agnostic.

In clinical testing, AgileMD’s eCART Clinical Deterioration Suite accurately identified high-risk hospitalized patients across conditions, including sepsis, heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
